| I needed a comfortably fitting waistpak-like carrier for nature walking and hiking locally. I wanted to be able to carry water, a snack, a very good camera, and a few other odds and ends. The High Sierra Diplomat Lumbar Pack is just what its name states: worthy of a diplomat. Roomy pockets for hiking or overseas travel. Comfortable, lightweight. This was more than I expected. It is well padded which I like because my camera dose not get bounced around. The Diplomat has a shoulder strap so you can carry it for easier access - like you are looking for a good photo opp. I recommend this bag for someone who wants a versatile carrier and a great price. |

| This is perfect for anyone looking to replace the diaper bag for something more sporty and not screaming "I have no life!" I was afraid it was going to be HUGE like the reviews said, but it was just smaller than our diaper bag. It's the perfect size! I got the Chipotle color, which I love, it's super comfy, and versatile (shoulder strap or waist band). Most importantly I am not going to feel embarrassed carrying it around while chasing our toddler! |

I already own a day-hike pack, not by Sierra, and was looking for something similar to what I have for a friend of mine. When this bag showed up on my doorstep I was immediately disappointed. A lot of the reviews said the bag wound up being bigger than expected, and I sort of wanted one that was bigger than the one I have, only this bag actually wound up being smaller than mine! I think the people who commented on it being too large were looking for actual fanny packs and not a day-hike bag, which is what this is.
Size aside, and that's my fault for not properly visualizing the dimensions before I ordered the thing, the quality of the product is questionable. The material felt extremely thin and plasticky--i.e. cheap. It had that shiny kindergartener's backpack feel to it. One good snare on a thorn or catching it on a doorway or something, and I think it would have torn a hole. The zippers were plastic and flimsy and the waterbottles looked unsound.I immediately put it back in the box and sent it back.
On a positive note, I have to say, the company it sent from, Baghaus, made the return process extremely convenient and seamless, and I had my money refunded within, I believe, three days. |

| I like that this pack has a lot of room for stuff. I can pack everything I need for geocaching, a GPS reciever, extra batteries, pens, notebooks, as well as hiking supplies and snacks. I don't use the two Lexan water bottles supplied but two 20oz water bottles fit perfectly. The only thing I could think of to improve upon it is to include a backpack style harness for those long hikes. The one that comes with it is great for those short walks/hikes but very cumbersome on the long ones. |
